# PasteApply honesty / fact-lock

We only rearrange what is already true.

PasteApply tailors a resume and cover letter toward one job posting. It rewords and reorders what is already on the source resume — stronger verbs, and the posting's terms only where the resume already supports them. It does not invent a career.

- Never invent employers, dates, skills, tools, or metrics. A reworded line that adds one is reverted to the source line.
- Before/after pairs marked `matched` are your unchanged bullet labeled with the requirement it supports — not a rewrite.
- If the posting wants something that is not on the source resume, that requirement stays missing. We show the gap — we do not fill it with fiction.
- Invented claims are bugs, not a feature.

## Present / Implied / Missing

Every generate returns a coverage list for skills the posting asked for.

- **Present** — named on the source resume. We can lead with it.
- **Implied** — a related tool or title is on the resume, not the exact word. We reframe existing work. We do not upgrade it into a claim you did not make.
- **Missing** — not on the resume. We show the gap. We do not invent it.

Fit verdict: exactly one missing must-have makes a draft a "weak" fit, and we name that gap (for example "Missing must-have: 3+ years"); two or more missing must-haves make it "skip". The interview % follows the verdict (apply 70–95%, weak 45–69%, skip 0–44%), so a weak fit never shows a higher % than an apply.

## Machine-readable proof

Every generate (website, POST /api/generate, MCP generate) returns `proof` and `coverage`. If `inventedClaims` would be >0, generate fails (HTTP 422).
